St Lucy Prayer for sight & faith

“Saint Lucy, your beautiful name signifies light.

By the light of faith which God bestowed upon you, increase and preserve His light in my soul so that I may avoid evil, be zealous in the performance of good works, and abhor nothing so much as the blindness and darkness of evil and sin.

Obtain for me, by your intercession with God, perfect vision for my bodily eyes and the grace to use them for God’s greater honor and glory and the salvation of souls.

Saint Lucy, virgin and martyr, hear my prayers and obtain my petitions.

Amen.”

What is St Lucy known for:

St. Lucy, also known as Saint Lucia, is known for being the patron saint of the blind and those with eye troubles because she was said to have had her eyes miraculously restored after they were gouged out during her persecution.

Saint Lucy is the patron saint of the city of Syracuse (Sicily) and of virgins. Because of various traditions associating her name with light, she came to be thought of as the patron of sight and was depicted by medieval artists carrying a dish containing her eyes.

St Lucy Feast Day: December 13th
